If your stone surface is scratched or its etched by acid, grinding your stone surface is the only option. Grinding resurfaces your stone, removing etched scars caused by corroding chemicals such as carbonated drinks, wine, cleaning detergent and scratches. It is also makes up part of the polishing process to smoothen surfaces. In addition to repairing and polishing stone surfaces, grinding is also a method used to remove glue and paint as well as preparing the surface for other applications.
Using an abrasive pad to grind or sand the surface of the stone, starting from grit 30 or 50. The pad comprises of diamond or gold steel and is attached to floor burnisher which rotates to even out the surface. Once the grinding process has removed the blemishes, it is necessary to follow that with polishing for a final restored finish.
