Efflorescence and prevention
Description
Due to error in workmanship, rain or pool water seeped through the joint of the stone, tempered by the cement’s lime and slow leakage through another joint, usually at the bottom. As the water travels slowly, the sun heats up the water, leaving lime behind. The accumulation of lime then turns to a big patch of efflorescence. Efflorescence can easily be cleaned-off using mild acidic chemicals. However, as long as the water continues to seep, the efflorescence will return. The best way is to prevent water seepage.
Suitable For
Normally happens when in contact with minimum water over a long period of time.
